GENERAL GUIDELINES
- Follow the handling instructions printed on the Safety label of FIBC.
- Ensure FIBC is compatible and produced as per the filling product. (Whether Edible/ Non- edible or hazardous, etc.).
- All applicable regulations and safety requirements should be followed.
- Always consult your manufacturer/supplier regarding Technical Details before buying.
- Protect the FIBCs from rain and prolonged sunlight, harmful UV rays, and inclement weather.
- Do dispose of FIBCs by ecological requirements.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING AND DISCHARGING FIBCs
- Ensure the Discharge Spout is correctly closed before filling FIBC.
- The filling Spout / Duffle of FIBC should be closed as per the FIBC manufacturer's instruction.
- Never go over the SWL (Safe Working Load) limits set for a specific FIBC.
- The environment should be favorable for filling and emptying FIBC. For instance, electrostatic issues in explosive or flammable situations.
- Ensure that the filled FIBC is stable.
- Take appropriate measures regarding dust control.
- Never allow anyone nearby to stand beneath an FIBC that is hung.
- Never suspend/ discharge FIBC using single or fewer lift loops, sleeves, etc.
FIBC HANDLING GUIDELINES FOR USE WITH A FORKLIFT, CRANE, OR HOIST
- The lift truck needs to be sturdy and big enough to hold the filled FIBC.
- When moving a filled FIBC, the driver must have a clear line of sight.
- The angle of the mast should be aligned/ titled appropriately.
- Make sure the forklift tines' edges are softened or covered.
- Utilize hoisting equipment that can support the hung load.
- The forklift tines must be adjusted to the correct width to prevent damaging lateral forces.
- A forklift must be stopped prior to raising or lowering the FIBC.
- Never subject an FIBC to sudden lifts/stops.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FIBC WITH LINERS
- Liners should be pre-Inflated before filling for better results.
- When filling or emptying, extend open liners away from the discharge spout.
- Liners must be attached to FIBC properly so they do not come out/lose hold during the discharge procedure.
- Tie off liners with spouts as instructed by the manufacturer.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION OF FIBC
- FIBC storage and transportation pallets must be certified.
- No protrusions or nails should be present on the pallets.
- Pallets should be of appropriate size and FIBC bags should not exceed out of it.
- Never take out or fix a bag that is broken without first taking out all bags placed on top.
- Bags must be placed up against two strong, sturdy walls.
- It is suitable to store filled bags in a pyramidal configuration.
- Water and moisture must not be present in the storage facility or warehouse.
